Almond butter is delicious and can be eaten with just about anything. Here's what you need to whip some simple almond butter up at home.
- 3 cups of raw almonds
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 TBS honey
Preheat your oven to 350°F and place almonds on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, stirring halfway. Let the almonds cool for 10 minutes.
Place almonds in your blender and blend until creamy smooth. The almonds will start as clumps of flour-like substances. Then, they might turn into a ball of almond mush.
Be patient and keep blending until smooth. Then, add in all other ingredients and blend until well combined. Let mixture cool and then store in a mason jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Ways to Eat Almond Butter
You can eat almond butter at any given time of the day. It's not only limited to breakfast, although it goes great on toast in the mornings! We also love dipping fresh-cut apples in almond butter.
Placing some butter on a banana and topping it with granola is another wonderful option. You can do the same with celery and rice cakes too!
Peanut butter is one of the more commonly used kinds of butter around the house. Peanut butter goes well on toast as well and even as its own sandwich. Ready to try your hand at making your own? Here's what you need:
- 2 cups dry-roasted peanuts
- salt to taste
- 1-2 TBS honey or sugar
Pour peanuts into a food processor. Let the processor run for 4-5 minutes. The peanuts will turn into crumbs, then into a dry ball, until it finally turns into a creamy peanut butter liquid. At this time, you can stir in the other ingredients.
Place it inside a mason jar and store it in the refrigerator.
Ways to Eat Peanut Butter
We all know about the famous PB&J sandwiches, but you can do so much more with peanut butter. There are plenty of other fun peanut butter ideas that your children will find delicious.
Again, using the butter as a dip for apples is excellent. You can also eat it with celery or pretzels. For a morning favorite, try spreading peanut butter on a bagel and topping it with bananas and raisins.

However, with a high-powered blender or food processor, you'll have your cashew butter in no time. Here's what you need to get started:
- 4 cups of raw cashews
- 2 tsp extra virgin coconut oil
Preheat oven to 325F and place cashews evenly on a baking sheet. Toast for 10-15 minutes until golden. Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes.
Place in your blender and process for about 10 minutes. You may need to scrape the sides of the blender if build-up forms. Wait until the cashews turn to a slightly creamy consistency.
Then, you want to add the coconut oil while the blender is still running. Process for another 5 minutes and then transfer into a mason jar. Store in the refrigerator.
